Amy Jo Jackson All That Fire & Music

Amy is a Manhattan based actress and singer with a penchant for old movies, The New Yorker, and red lipstick.

Born and raised in Fort Worth, TX and transplanted to Littleton, CO at the age of sixteen, Amy Jo never really wanted to be anything but an actor. A singer in church choirs from four years old and acting student at eight, she decided at eleven that she would definitely pursue a career in acting - primarily for the stage, and definitely in New York City. Through her powers of persuasion (in this instance, "persuasion" is a polite euphemism for persistent nagging), she got her best friend and younger brother Aaron involved in theatre, and dragged him along for the ride.

She eventually attended The Boston Conservatory, where she graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre. While there, in addition to working on Shaw, Bernstein, Brecht, and Sondheim, she was afforded the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the incredible Boston Pops. She was selected as one of two assistants to the Voice and Speech dept in her senior year, which entailed spending many hours in a teensy office giving coachings on dialects and sonnets. It was glorious. She also spent one of her summers in London, training in the Shakespeare summer program at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. It was at RADA that she made the acquaintance of Hannah Croft, of the British comedy duo Croft & Pearce. Recently, Amy and Hannah have become collaborators as well, and are currently deep in the throes of writing a web series. They're aiming to shoot Fall/Winter 2011. Stay tuned for hilarity.

Upon moving to New York after graduation, she has worked steadily both in the city and regionally. She set up shop as a freelance dialect and audition coach in addition to acting and recording gigs. She and her brother (who also attended BoCo and is on the Harold team Sandino at UCB) occasionally sing and write together, though they frequently gallivant about town. Amy has been known at times to take off for points unknown for anywhere from a week to two months when she has nothing lined up, and spends most of this time drinking cappuccinos with strangers and wandering aimlessly through art museums. These experiences will either make for a fabulous memoir or a delightful one-woman show, but both will have to wait till she's hit a couple more continents. If anyone reading this has any projects bound for Berlin, she would like to refer you to the "Contact" page...

At present, she studies acting under Karl Bury and Larry Moss, musical theatre with Jen Waldman, and takes a variety of workshops at Michael Howard Studios and other places around town. She is delighted to be a company member at New Jersey Rep, and a proud former Bat at The Flea Theatre (where she has done two world premieres and several developmental readings).
